Download format

If there's a most wrong format for a download of Windows software, it would have to be RAR.  The only way to open the archive is to download and install a piece of nagware, adware, or commercial software to get at it.  It would be so easy to produce an MSI, an EXE, or even a plain old ordinary ZIP.  Why use an exotic Windows-unfriendly distribution format?
